Orchid Bird

Trying to capture a nice pic of an orchid
It was a bit dark so I put a flash on it

Suddenly, a bird appeared
With frosted wings
A big heart
Flashing eyes & lit tips

A simple flower
Illuminated

Life within life

Visions of beauty are endless
Meanings are infinite

WTC – LA BRUJA

Please take a moment to hear this performance. The night this came on HBO, I had taped it on VHS (#TBT) b/c I was at my friend Felix’s birthday party & didn’t want to miss Def Poetry Jam. I had never met La Bruja, but that night she came to the party. At one point, the music stopped & she spit some spoken word. I was so taken, hooked & inspired, in awe of her passion & personality. I went home & watched the tape & saw her perform Lola & WTC. It was a double whammy! I immediately took out my pen & wrote a poem in her name called “The Good Witch”. She continues to inspire many with her magical brews.

Matters of the Race

Life is like a race
Sometimes, we go too fast
We fall on our face
Trip over our feet
Tied up with ourselves

Sometimes, we go too slow
Think too much
Wait & contemplate
Procrastinate
Until, it’s too late

Sometimes, we fall off track
Feel like giving up
Bruised and cracked
We drop the baton
We don’t feel like doing jack

Sometimes, we think…
We’re completely out of the race
Fallen from grace
When we’re just bit displaced

It’s all just matter
Perspective
Time and space

The lap will return
We’ll continue our pace
Take up where we left off

Either way, we end up in the same place

At the end of the day
We only come face to face
With time

We realize how much we complicate
How we only race with ourselves
And how none of it matters anyway.

Born Again

I’m born again

Feeling brand new

It’s my birthday

I can do what I wanna do

So I’m letting go

Of all the things I can’t control

Of all the silly fears we have inside

I’m not meant to feel little

I wasn’t brought here to hide

So I’m gonna continue to strive

And let my light shine

Proud of where I stand

With my heart in my hand

Simply in my knowing

In being the man

I am

I WANT TO START AN EVOLUTION!

So Madonna finally released her Project Revolution, a 17 min film with Steven Klein. Once again, she’s hitting on the pulse of the times. It’s creative, thought-provoking, violent & in your face, beautiful, full of grace & emotion, political, humanitarian & revolutionary! It’s about time she spoke out, and more celebrities need to do the same!

She says she want’s to “start a reEvolution, somebody’s got to. There’s too much beauty in the world going to waste, too much talent going unnoticed, too much creativity being crushed beneath the will of corporate branding & what’s trending. It’s time to wake up before it’s too late! I want to start a rEvolution. This revolution will not be televised. It won’t be on the internet. It won’t be an app avail on your iPhone. You won’t be able to download it. This will be the revolution of thinking for yourself of having your own opinion & not giving a damn what people say! This will be revolution of inquiring further, of not worrying about winning other people’s approval, of not wishing you were someone else, being perfectly content with who you are, someone unique & rare & fearless. I want to start a revolution of LOVE! And this revolution will overcome all fear, suffering & separation & it will include all people. We’re all in this shit together.” -Madonna
At the end she asks, “Are you with me?”

Yes, Madonna, I’ve been here for a long time now, waiting for the world to change…

And waiting for other celebrities with a voice to speak out…

Huffinton Post – Madonna’s ‘Secret Project’ Debuts With Gritty Emphasis On Freedom Of Expression

Me and all my friends
We’re all misunderstood
They say we stand for nothing
And there’s no way we ever could

Now we see everything that’s going wrong
With the world and those who lead it
We just feel like we don’t have the means
To rise above and beat it

So we keep waiting
(Waiting)
Waiting on the world to change
We keep on waiting
(Waiting)
Waiting on the world to change

It’s hard to beat the system
When we’re standing at a distance
So we keep waiting
(Waiting)
Waiting on the world to change

Now if we had the power
To bring our neighbors home from war
They would have never missed a Christmas
No more ribbons on their door

And when you trust your television
What you get is what you got
Cause when they own the information
Oh, they can bend it all they want

That’s why we’re waiting
(Waiting)
Waiting on the world to change
We keep on waiting
(Waiting)
Waiting on the world to change

It’s not that we don’t care
We just know that the fight ain’t fair
So we keep on waiting
(Waiting)
Waiting on the world to change

And we’re still waiting
(Waiting)
Waiting on the world to change
We keep on waiting
(Waiting)
Waiting on the world to change

One day our generation
Is gonna rule the population
So we keep on waiting
(Waiting)
Waiting on the world to change

I’ve been practicing putting this rEvolution into effect in whatever small way I can, even if some people think it’s silly, sharing quotes, writings, research, photography… beauty & love, poetry & positivity. I’m sure I’m not the only one. Hope one day you will join us!

CJ’s Evolution

This brings me back to a picture I took of a book on September 15, 2013 . My friend had the book The Secret Language of Destiny. It’s a 3 book series & I have the other 2, The Secret Language of Relationships & The Secret Language of Birthdays. It was a trinity come together. Each book is huge & has a chart & you have to look up your birthday, month, week & year, unlike a basic horoscope where everyone shares a month. So it’s a bit more personal. And every week has a title of sorts. I looked my up mine & my title in The Destiny Book is The Way of Awareness. It was too long to read 4 pages at the time so I took a pic of The Core Lesson on the 1st page. It was quite telling, and very fitting. It’s how I live my everyday life.

CJ's Destiny
And I have to honor a teacher who pushed me, my English teacher, Ms. Smith. She wasn’t the most liked, but she saw something in me and I never forgot what she wrote to me in my High School Yearbook.
Message from Ms. Smith
So this is the reason I do all this
Besides my daily 9-5 to survive
I find this to be my true purpose
I enjoy this part of life
Doesn’t have to do with consumerism
Politics
Money & greed
I just want to live life & be happy
Isn’t that the mission for everybody?
I want to share joy & inspiration with those I love
And if Madonna can do it, so can I
I’ll continue this revolution of love & evolution
Of love & life

Are you with me?

A walk outside with a dragonfly.

Took a walk outside & came across a perfectly designed dragonfly
It compliments & contrasts the ground on which it stands
Dipped in orange & shaded in rust
Delicate, yet, rough
It’s out of this world, so alien it seems
With it’s big, googly eyes & geometric, stain glassed wings
It reflects & refracts, able to transform colors & lights
Of all insects, it has the most amazing vision & sight
It adapts in various ways & can see from all angles
And it lives moving forward, because it can’t fly backwards

-CJ

The power of Dragonfly lies in its ability to see around things by looking from different angles. Using its ability to transform colors and lights by reflecting and refracting them, Dragonfly shows us that life, like light, can bend, shift, and adapt in various ways, making life’s appearance never be what it appears to be. Dragonfly’s magic shows us to see through life’s illusions and find our true vision. It calls us to transform within our lives and reminds us to feel deeply so we will have the compassion necessary to help ourselves and others. (animaltotem.com)

Dragonfly Outside

Pat Pat Pancake Girl

Pat, pat, pat
At the back of the bus
Changes taking place
People making their way
She pat, pat, pats her face
So gracefully

Masquerading between the lines
She an undercover girl, maybe Maybelline
Some say it’s vanity, insecurity
She just likes to look good
There’s always pressure to be neat

She’s a canvas for her arsenal
M.A.C. or L’Oreal
Estee Lauder, Bobbi B
She takes her time but hurries
Eyes, brows, lips and cheeks
While accounting for stop and go’s
Bumps in between

A little bit more and her transformation’s complete
She set her foundation through all her applications
Presses her lashes with that silver contraption thing
Her artillery in that clutch she’s carrying
A daily makeup tutorial for all the riders to see
I sit and write about her since the ride is boring
And she’s inspiring & entertaining me
She’s art & creativity

She strokes very slowly as she works on her hair
I wonder if she’ll bust out a dryer from under her chair
She’s got pencils, liners, brushes and blush
And I have to admit
She looks 10x better than when she got on this bus
